[updated] Quilted Maple with Birdseye neck

well its all on.

It's like a different guitar and looks cool. Will take photos when i buy some strings.

Unfortunately had an accident in the process, wasn't carefull enough and managed to put a scratch in the lacquer at the top horn on the front (to the left of neck / neck pickup). Its a good inch and half but can't be seen in all angles. It's not all the way through to the finish so hopefully, fingers crossed i can hide it. Gutted to say the least but have ordered some scratch remover from guitarscratchremover.com and hopefully i can work some of it out.

Totally gutted obviously, but then this guitar was purchased so i didn't make those stupid mistakes on my fender. Lesson definately learnt.

Back on a high note, have just learnt Bell Bottom Blues and black on this guitar looks great. haha Stay tuned.

Well guys as promised here's my updated strat.

I took your advise and changed the pickguard and all the gear and I think you'll agree it looks much better. As for the scratch, after sleeping on it, it's not that bad. Will still use the remover to see if i can get it (plus the extras i've found) out. But for now I'll just play the damn thing and learn from my mistakes, after all that's what the lacquer is there for, to protect the finish.

p.s. main lesson learnt from this experience, screwing pickups into new plate with new covers is hard work, especially with those rubber springs. Best idea is to run screws through all holes first to make sure they line up ok before attempting to screw to guitar.

Better  :glasses9:

(but I have to admit........I did like the previous incarnation)

Sweet dude.... I bet that would look even better though if you changed the knobs and the pickup covers back to white while keeping the black pickguard.

bah!  :dontknow: can't win!

I seriously am not doing that after having to remove neck and everything to change pickguard (is quite tight at the top).

I did do a photoshop mockup though to see what that looked like, and it was ok but I'm really digging the all black. Makes the woods really sing.

I dont have any white knobs and covers unfortuantely either, only aged that came with it. I'm not a fan of faux-aged at all.

As a bonus I've put my favourite choice of strings for my Fender, Super Slinkys, on the Warmoth for the first time (have been using hybrids), and i just love the sound even more, although i have found a few spots of fret buzz from the change in guage.

WOW that black guard completely sets this guitar off. that thing looks amazing! very very nice!

Already suggested it.  He thought it was too SRV.

Regardless, this beast is awesome!

Just to let y'all know I'm still here and still playing this baby daily.

She's been to the the shop a few time since and had the frets properly dressed to get rid of buzz at the 12th but other than that she's the same as the day I finished the build and I love to play her.

Unfortunately I've got the Warmoth urge again and am about to start another exotic woods project, this time to satisfy a need for something humbucking.

Looking at maybe a soloist (to keep that strat / fender vibe) with a W neck and some seriously pimp woods. Loving zebrawood, and korina for bodies atm and gotta have an ebony fretboard without inlays. Appears to be the sexy trend atm.

Any comments?

i love black korina bodies. hard to beat some awesome woodgrain. would that soloist be a hardtail or tremolo?
