Unexpectedly GAS'd on a spalt/quilt body today...neck suggestions?

If I have that I'm definitely going birdseye or flame with it. That light streak up the middle is just screaming to be matched up with a neck of roughly the same color. What an excellent find, man. If you hadn't snatched that up I would have. I watch the RSS feeds everyday too and didn't see that one. You must have grabbed it as soon as it was put out there. hehe!!

Thanks again for the input guys.   Much appreciated.   A quick update on my neck selection dilemma:

So after much deliberation I finally decided on an all pau ferro neck, and was ready to pull the trigger.     I had my heart set on vintage modern construction (really wanted the alleged "woody" sound and a 1-piece).  And although it's not a standard option listed on the website, I was hoping W could pull it off...even if it meant a bit of an upcharge or something.   Unfortunately, I learned that a vintage modern is absolutely, positively, not an option for an all-pau neck.    They never buy neck blanks in pau ferro that would work for a VM.   Ack!

Anyway, so now I'm back to decision making   I really wanted a raw neck, but I think rosewood is the only raw option for a vintage modern.  I know many people rave about them; but unfortunately, I have a couple of guitars with rosewood fingerboards and am personally not crazy about the feel.   I really don't want to take a chance on shelling out a ton of cash for a neck that I might not love the feel of, so that's not going to happen.

So, now I have to decide what I want to compromise on:  do I want an all-pau neck that's a pro construction 2-piece, or a matte finished 1-piece maple vintage modern (probably birdseye or flame)?  Construction, or wood?    Stupid decisions.    Fortunately, the pickups I ordered (Don Mare is making them) won't be here for two months, so I have some time to think about it.  I'll keep you guys updated on what I decide on.

Btw...the body arrived last week, and it is absurdly gorgeous.    I'd post pics, but the ones from the showcase look way better than anything I could take with my crappy iphone camera.   Once I have some decent progress on construction, I'll put some up so you can see how it's coming.

i'd sacrifice the one piece look for the raw pau ferro feel.
playability trumps looks 8 days a week

Yeah, I would definitely go with a highly figured ziricote board, on a flame maple neck. You could even go with a vintage tint on the neck which would look sweet.

...and wood wins out over construction!

Just placed the order- pau ferro/pau ferro, warmoth pro, SS 6100 frets, white tusq nut, SRV contour, no face dots, schaller mini-locking tuners

Still wish I could have talked W into building me a vintage modern, but I guess I'll get over it.  Can't wait to put this build together!
