you are right Doug, Barndoor may be the wrong description... the rusty finish is really what I was thinking of.
having said that, I quite like this too:

Creston guitars (AKA Mayfly's friends) also do barnwood finishes, but those are made of actual barndoors I would love to make something out of reclaimed woods sometimes!

That's why I was talking about milk, rust and blood paint. It's real. (A real myth actually - I think.)

+1 - that would be Unique. Don't think I've ever seen a guitar that's been shot before, and plus it's in pine - awesome results if the guitar isn't destroyed.

Pine is pretty soft - I'd use birdshot if it were me.  From a distance.  No choke.

I've shot a lot of pine. A .22 shouldn't shatter it. I can give you a 100% guarantee that a .50 cal will, though. Mayfly's idea of birdshot from a distance might be awesome, as you could finish right over the top of the pellets and the pattern would be more interesting.

usually when I buy something, I already know what I want and roughly what I want to do with it (yes, there were some exceptions)
now it was the other way around, so I appreciate all your input.. including blood, milk, hinges and bullets!
I actually build one guitar before on which I planned to put a beer bottle opener!

So far it looks like we are going the rusty/barndoor way... I like it!!
