I got these babies a few weeks ago, but what with the new baby and the holidays, they sat around in their shipping containers until now.  For the record, one of the things my wife gives me a hard time about is the fact that I can wait forever to open a present - while if a Christmas present comes early for her, screw it, it's getting opened NOW.

Anyway:

Koa top on mahogany flat-topped Les Paul, and a Warmoth-headstocked quartersawn maple neck with pearloid blocks on a rosewood fingerboard.  Purty damn tasty.

Plan is to seal the body with shellac, fill with mahogany Timbermate, and then do Deft brushing lacquer.  I further plan to paint the headstock face black and clearcoat it, then Tru-oil the neck shaft.  Hardware will be all black - Gotoh tune-o-matic and stoptail, Gotoh non-locking tuners, Dimarzio FRED in the bridge, PAF Pro in the neck.  Black bonnet knobs, and a black Electrosocket jack.

And I shot these snapshots on my kitchen table, since I know some of you wood-pr0n hounds can't get enough of THAT wood, either.

Peace

Nice Bagman67  :icon_thumright:

Looking forward to seeing this baby come alive !!

Never played a flat top LP, but I have an SG so I suppose it would be along those lines.
Are the neck pockets angled any different than on the carved top ... I presume the same

With black tuners, I'd personally leave the headstock woody - the Tru-Oil will darken it a bit. I have a Schecter 7 that's black-on-black-on-black, and it's, like, really black, you know? :icon_scratch: The black heads work on Gibsons, but they have a painted everything else.
