Hello,

I just felt in love with a showcase Stratocaster Body so I buy it...

Here it is:
1 piece Alder Body
Quilt Maple Top
Rear Routed
Humbucker in bridge position

I configure it for:
EMG single-coil in neck and middle positions
5 ways switch and volume, tone 1, tone 2.
Wilkinson bridge.

Here is the neck:

Maple with Zircote fretboard.
Standard Thin with 6105 stainless frets.

I'm gonna finish them with Birchwood Casey Tru-oil and Wax.
I choose an EMG SA/SA/89 kit (I want a split in bridge position) witch I didn't choose the color between Black and Ivory.
Sperzel locking tuners and Wilkinson tremolo.
For the Pin strap I choose the Gretsch ones, best pin straps I ever seen.
For the neck fixation I don't know if a choose neck plate or ferrules... (and maybe Onyx Forge Inserts...)

Once a received the body and the neck and i finished the Tru-oil finish I will choose between chrome and gold hardware and the color of the pickups.

Wow, quilt and spalt. I normally don't reeally dig quilt or flame maple, but this is pretty stunning.

I just received my order today... with two bad surprices...
The body isn't 1 piece like described on in the showcase but with 3 pieces...
And there is a pencil mark on the lower horn...

I send a mail to Warmoth and now i'm wondering how to make the pencil disappear.

It will probably come off when you do some sanding. The body arrives sanded to 220, I believe. So, you will need to do some sanding anyway.

If a hard eraser doesn't work on the pencil mark, just sand lightly with fine (#320/#400) sandpaper

I will try sandpaper, right now i'm a little busy...

@Max: It's the n°S3537.
I have contacted (sorry for the very bad english I'm french) Warmoth but they assured me it was 1 piece and didn't respond when i send fotos...

Photos are from my poor cell phone...

By 3 piece do you mean two pieces of the top laminate and 3 body? From the pictures you posted showing the seam in the top laminate,  I think that is the misunderstanding here. Isn't that just the bookmatching of the top?

Yeah, I can see the 3 pieces in here:

Hmm... A Warmoth rep will probably drop by soon and give some advice.

It's the 3 piece body (not including lam)

@Bigdaddy: When I say 3 pieces Body I didn't include the laminated top.

No reponse since monday 11th...

Hope they get in touch with you soon, I would send another email for rob@warmoth.com , the guy that takes care of this kind of situation!

Thanks for the advice, apparently he's out of the office for few days.

I'll enjoy these time to think about the color of the pickups... I may choose black.

Thanks again to everyone, this forum is very cool.

Hello,

body problem is solved.
Actually I'm oiling the body and the neck... I've already make 4 coats.

How much should I do? And for the Wax?

i can't help much on finishing advice, but i will say WE NEED PICTURES!

it's a cruel thing to say something like "i'm finishing the body" but not post pictures of it  :icon_biggrin:
