just worked for me. No woes, no mystery problems, no set-up issues. I mean, a double-locking tremolo setup does NOT have to be complicated,
or hard to use, or finnicky, or... :dontknow:
And believe me, if my Floyds give me the ability to control a 50ft, PPC and Gauss Rifle totin' metal mountain - I'm THERE.
Now, where's my f-ing neurohelmet?! :headbang1:
Of course they work. Never said they didn't. A properly set up Floyd works like a charm. And there's certainly no mystery to them. And when I said "complicated", I didn't mean they were difficult to understand or deal with, I meant they're mechanically complex (as far as bridges go; lord knows they're dead simple devices that even a musician can deal with). You've got extra tuners, extra joints, shims, etc. that other bridges don't have or need. Plus, you have that bloody locking nut. I don't have one on my vibrato. So, there's a step you have to take that I don't have to. You have tuners on the bridge, which need to be reset when you change strings or you'll eventually run out of range. I don't have that problem. You've got string heel mounting issues I don't. You need shims to adjust for neck radius, I don't have that problem. You have a lot of added weight I don't have. You have more nooks and crannies to collect palm kukka, dandruff, pick shavings, hooker dust, etc. You have a higher initial cost for at least the hardware, and a wrecked neck if you ever change your mind about the thing. You have a monstrous hunk of mechanical stuff in place of an unobtrusive bridge. You don't have any performance improvement or advantage. So, I'm not sold yet. Maybe if it was red hot or covered in birdcrap or carried anthrax spores I could get more excited, but I don't know... <grin>
