Trem for a Tele...considering a Stetsbar

Greetings,

Considering a trem for the Warmoth Tele I put together.  Not a Bigsby fan.  From what I've researched, the Stetsbar looks to be the best option of available units for a Tele.  I understand, it gives roughly the dive bomb of a standard Strat trem and little upward movement as well.

For those that have them....

Do you like them?
Any issues?
Do they stay reasonably in tune with a TUSQ XL nut and locking tuners?
If you break a string, does the whole guitar go out of tune?
Do they change guitar tone / sustain?  If so, how?
Do parts break?
Other?

Other trem options besides a Stetsbar, that is not a Bigsby?

Buehler....Buehler....

Does anyone use the Stetsbar, and what is your opinion of it?

I don’t have any first hand experience, I mostly bolt Bigsbys onto Teles, but the Stestsbar does sound like a pretty cool system. I don’t speak Russian, but this guys Tele speaks the Universal Language (Esperanto)

Good video. I could understand two words. "Telecaster" and "Stetsbar".  :laughing11:

I must say that Stetsbar does look like it works well. I may have to entertain one.

Rgand, what is the trem you show in your avatar?

That's a Trem King TKS-2. It works good and the base plate is screwed solidly to the body like a hardtail. Only the tone block moves. You have to do a good amount of routing for it.

Thank you!  Do you like it?  How much range in pitch do you get, Bigsby'esque, dive bomb like Floyd, somewhere in the middle like a Strat vintage?

I do like it. It will do a substantial dive bomb, waaay more than a Bigsby. Just for the fun of it, I tuned it with my electronic tuner then plucked the 'G' string and pushed. It went down to the flat side of 'C'. When I let go, it returned to tune nicely. It's easier to work than the one on my Strat. The Strat arm flexes a lot and always feels like it's being stressed. I don't notice any flex with the Trem King. The end of the arm has a rubber tip that saves your pickguard or guitar finish if you push it down enough to touch. I'll probably bend it down a bit because I never do dives but that's just preference.

You're welcome. In my build thread, I posted photos of how the action works. Look here at post 178 on page 12 for that.
