tone pot shorting out on P Bass build?

Trying to wrap my head around what could be causing this...seems like it should be obvious, but I just want to run it by the brain trust to make sure I'm not totally off base.

I just wired up a Warmoth P Bass, with a Lindy Fralin pickup and a traditional passive harness pre-wired from BestBassGear.com

Works great/sounds great...except when the tone pot is fully clockwise: Then it's dead silent. If I back the tone pot off just a hair it comes back on. If I turn the tone pot fully counter-clockwise the high end is rolled off as expected. It's just the final few degrees of fully CW where the sound cuts off.

It wouldn't surprise me if one of the lugs on either of the pots or the output jack was shorting out against the copper foil shielding. Could that result in these symptoms? ...and if so, which lug is more likely to yield this?

Or, could it be something else entirely?

tbh I'm so lazy I may just leave it as is, but on principal I'd love to know what the problem is.

Thanks.

Well output jack wouldn’t do that.  Are the lugs touching shielding? If no, then that’s not it.  Sounds like a bad pot or cold solder joint.

I don’t think it’s one of the lugs shorting against the copper foil. If that were the case it ought to happen anytime, not just fully clockwise.
My guess is a faulty pot. Replace it and it’ll probably sort itself out.
Or post some pictures and somebody here will surely be able to help you pinpoint the cause of it all.
