I have my Fender Strat hunger under control now, for as long as it last.  :laughing7: Actually I don't want anymore name brand guitars, but this one was too good to pass up.

I saw this red MIM strat in a local shop near where I'm working in Little Rock, AR. Played well. They wanted $500 for it and wouldn't budge on the price. Guitar played great, pretty lively and resonate without being plugged up. In visiting the store's website today I saw they moved it to ebay for $390 so I scooped it up.

It's a poplar Deluxe PowerHouse Strat.

Found a used EMG DG20 pickup package on ebay for $165 and snatched it up.

Now I just need the short trem arm.

Very nice! I just bought and watched 'Pulse' a couple of days ago, and, needless to say - I kind of wanted a strat loaded with EMG single's
after that.  :headbang: Nice catch, battery box and everything - on the cheap too!

Incidentally.... on 'Sorrow', I went downstairs and plugged into my amp - but could NOT get the feedback he mananges to pull off (and I was
sitting right next to the amp with some decent volume). Now, is that because I'm not using single-coils (EMG-81) or not enough volume,
or the wrong combination of effects? I've even tried messing with the trem like he does to 'intiate' the feedback like he seemed to, but no dice.

I love "Sorrow".  :headbang1:
Gilmour used one of these for that metallic sound. But all you really need is a lot of gain.

According to Gilmourish.com on Sorrow

"intro; the guitar was recorded with a Big Muff into a Fender Concert combo and fed through Floyd’s Quad PA system at the LA Sports Arena."

Would be hard to replicate that lol

You may be right. I thought that Boss pedal was for that hard edged sound it has going on.

He did use that pedal on the album as well I believe.

Well, I'm using a ZOOM G2 for all of my effects currently - still struggling with learning how to use it properly - being an amateur,
I find myself overwhelmed with individual effects (the ZOOM does a lot) as I've never owned anything besides a TS-9 Tubescreamer and a Boss Chorus/Flanger
many, many moons (i.e. 15+ years) ago. (I'm one of those morons with more money for his hobbies than actual ability, mores the pity).  :sad1:

Distortion/OD etc. wasn't (isn't) the problem, I was struggling with the 'feedback on demand' portion. ;)

Very nice...Why not just cut down a regular trem arm. I'm sure that's what Gilmour did.... :dontknow:

But now that I think about it, I've seen someone selling the short trem arms before, but can't remember where I saw them.... :icon_scratch:

On Strats the end where the plastic handle is, is threaded and the plastic handle screws on. If you cut a long one down to size, you'd have to find a way to machine that thread onto the cut end... (Might end up being easier for most folks to buy a short one for $15?)

I had one that screwed on.. I used my grinding wheel to chop it down, and shaved a little off the end and smashed the plastic back on  :dontknow: works great for me  :icon_thumright:

Yeah you can do it that way, tho I'd be inclined to do what my Mum used to do with some plastic stuff that was too hard to move onto things, and sit it in boiling water for a few minutes to get it soft, then try and prise it on.
