Tiltback headstock & Floyd Rose Nut - Need a retainer bar?

I have two tiltback headstocks with Floyd nut prep. Will I need retainer bars on them or is the tilt back sufficient? I want to avoid that issue where the strings go sharp as you tighten the locks.

I am planning on Hipshot tuners on one and plain Jane Gotohs on the other, if the height of the tuner post matters. I’m thinking no, but I realize I don’t have one in the pile ready to build.

I'm going to say no. I have a Strat Tiltback on a Velocity body using a normal nut and no additional break angle needed.

I have an RG7321 neck on the FR7620 body in my Avatar. It has no locking nut. I put a Tusq XL nut and Hipshot locking tuners on it and gave it one of my setups and it plays and stays in tune wonderfully.

Try it without, but you can always add it if you need it.
