Three-wire P-90 help

Hi Guys--

I need a little bit of help with the P-90 in my budget Squire project. The Gotoh Tokai P-90 I purchased seems like a decent piece of equipment, but I'm confused on something. I have three wires coming out of the pickup:  A white lead, a bare lead (ground) and then a red lead. All of the wiring diagrams I see show just a two-wire operation. Can anyone shed any light on this for me?

Thanks!--you guys are always a great help no matter how tight the pinch.

The bare is the shield, keeps the wire from picking up noise.  It should go to ground with the white wire.

I think this is the first I heard of a 3 P90 Squier... got pics?

I'm assuming that this is a regular single coil P-90, correct?

It seems to me like you have + and - wires, plus a shield wire...

like DBW said, connect the white and bare wires to ground, and use the red as a hot.

What they said.

The advantage of this is that you can do out-of-phase and in-series combinations.
