You know the ones I'm talking about... Road Flare Red, Desert Yellow, the super-bright stuff from the late 80s. One of the builds I'm thinking about would look really good in this style, but I want to do it in blue. Is there a "neon blue" paint out there? And if so, can a color like that be used as a transparent finish?

You mean like the PGM??

Ahrrrggggghhhhhhh.  Paul Gilbert and his panted on F-Holes. In my opinion I am yet to see anything more ridiculous on a guitar.  I still love his playing style.

I really dont understand what  I'm seeing there... that body seems painted but its blank is too...

ibanez has a bright blue they call "laser blue" thats pretty cool. and that blue color in transparent would be amazing! carvin has a color very similar. i wonder if carvin would let you send them a body to finish? it's a long shot, but maybe worth an email. and of course some private companies might finish it for you. tonar here on this forum is the finish guru, he might be able to do something along the lines of what you're looking for

The guy that built it kept it in the blank to give it to a family member as a gift. It was the first prototype of that model.

I'm told never to deal with Sims. is he really that bad?

All my googling on him has delivered one negative review after another. He's got a lot of nice pics to look at, but I'll take my business elsewhere.

Standing out with the playing isn't enough sometimes to make an impression.  If ever confused about who he was, "Oh, the guy with the painted on F-holes?" might be heard.  Not unlike, "Oh, the guy with a bucket on his head."  "Oh, the guy in the school boy uniform?"  "Oh, the guy with the red guitar with black and white electrical tape?"  "Oh, the guy with the Les Paul with a perpetual cigarette and top hat?"  "Oh, the guy with the long beard?"  "Oh, the guy with the bow?"

That's just PG's thing.  Atleast he doesn't have a bucket on his head.

He does do some amazing work, but I ordered a body from him and after months of it not showing up I tried to get a refund and that was hell too. It was really too bad, it would have been a nice body.

There is a company called Crescent Bronze that makes flourescent pigments.  I believe they have a blue.  If you are set up to spray, you can mix any amount of pigment into clear you like.

Thanks for the tip. They do have a blue, it's not quite what I have in mind... but it's good to keep as an option. Their other fluorescent colors are very nice too. Oh, here's the site if anyone's interested:

And this is the link to the PDF with the neon colors.
