Those darn Koreans

So I've owned about 16 guitars in my life, between $500 and $1500, and of all shapes and sizes.  Some big name classics and some not so much, and am currently on my second warmoth build, and my go to guitar is still a PRS SE custom hardtail that is totally stock.  WTF?  I'm sitting here playing the thing and wondering what I'm chasing.  I gotta say the Koreans and PRS made me one of the nicest playing guitars I ever played.

But it doesn't have a Wenge neck........the quest continues

You got my dander up, I thought this was going to be another thread bashing Hines Ward.

Those PRS SE guitars are pretty nice.  The only thing I don't like is how the finish on the back of the neck feels against my hand.  A wenge neck would go a long way towards alleviating that complaint.

Funny you should say that.  The first thing I did when I got it home a few years ago was take some ScotchBrite to the neck.  Nice perfect satin finish after that.

IKR?  I had a Korean Ibanez RG hardtail for a while that wasnt really my style but I have to admit it was a heck of a value for a neck thru and it was an amazing player.  Their quality control must rule.

I too really enjoyed those models.  I really liked the one with the F hole.  Played and sounded great.  I really liked the next profile too.  I thInk they were around $600.  That seems really fair.

Another line of asian (I think Korea) guitars is schecter.  They have been made there since 1997.  While they do not have the PRS stigma, fine instruments nonetheless.

Great solution.  You just increased the chance that I may obtain of those guitars some day.  Thanks!

These two posts when read concurrently after a long day at work is NOT recommended.... :tard:

TBH I have a Korean made Epi Casino and while it is solidly enough built, and the quality is OK, I just can't get to grips with it.  :dontknow:

Maybe I should buy an Agile semi acoustic and be done with it!  :icon_scratch:

most of ther Agile stuff I have seen rocks.  Sometimes you have issues with the finish but it is rare.

Yeah we have someone here on this forum who is quite an advocate for them. But I'm thinking that the problem lies with the semi acoustic/P90 combo, it just isn't me at all. I think if I had a heap of $$ I'd consider upgrading to a ES335, tho the ES339s do look tasty, but for that sort of cash -either of those choices cost (plus the gamble of buying a Gibson) I have to be sure I can use a semi acoustic within my limited playing ability. That's what I am not sure about....... do I have a need for a semi?  :icon_scratch:

A repairer recently did a good job on the Casino and was raving about it being a good solid guitar, but I can't get much satisfying playing time with it. Often I walk away from a session of playing it, far from happy with the tone....

You might try to pick up an epiphone "elitist" model of semi - either casino or 335 model. I played a casino and the fit, finish, and sound was the equal of anything Ive seen - just perfect QC on that sucker. at $1500 for an Asian (Japanese Fujigen) instrument, it's not cheap but it's also "not cheap."

I have two mid to low end Ibanez guitars, and for the price, they are both outstanding.  My Warmoths are way better, but I would put them up against anything in their price bracket.  All from the people who brought us Starcraft: The Musical...

Hi Tim, I was at one stage looking at upgrading the Casino to a John Lennon Revolution Casino but I am just not certain that sort of guitar is for me.....and splurging out that sort of cash as an upgrade to find that out...I can do without that sort of aggravation.

Now I find I have spent too much as it is on musical gear and I really have to pull the horns in (plus I have had to buy new hearing aids). My financial advisor hinted that I should try and live in the real world for a while, lol. Things like 'reduce credit card debt', ensure all taxable claims are made, work to a budget  :o

Killjoys.....

Sounds like you need a new financial advisor AND a new semihollow then!

Unfortunately, reality bites hard.........time to work on what I already have...... :headbang:
