The Shredowhawk

In most organizations with a shipping department, order picking means the paperwork is open and items are being collected/prepped for packing, so shipment is probably not far behind

It is indeed shipped! Just got the notification, delivery as early as tomorrow. As @Spud knows that means I will have it put together some time next year :)
They shipped 3 necks to me coming tomorrow too. Only two packages though, two necks must fit in one box.

Only next year…
Subject to change ;)

In my infinite preparation I realized I never bought the dang volume pot. Pretty sure I have some sitting around from other projects that can be cannibalized.

I also don’t have any strings. Obvious choice is the Fender YJM set, so those are ordered and will be here next week. Sadly, I’ll be out of town all next week, but I’d like to get all the fretwork and soldering done this weekend.

Pickup mounting - in this case I used 2-56 machine screws and press fit bushings. The pickups were lined up using playing cards as shims - these fit about 3 per side - and then I marked the mounting holes with a punch. Worked up to a 1/8” drill and eyeballed the depth, then a few taps to get the bushings in.

I used the foam from the Lollar box because it’s matched to the resonance of the pickups. Two layers provides plenty of springiness for keeping the pickup firmly mounted with no wiggle room that would introduce microphonics.

The screws got chocked in a drill and the top of the threads were filed down so they spin freely in the humbucker plate.

I have a feeling I’m going to like this D profile. I’ve started burnishing the canary and it feels like a nice medium chunky. I’m half tempted to go back a step and add an asymmetric carve and use the bottom flat transition as a “soft V” apex.

Strings procured. Seemed like the obvious choice for this guitar:
