The Rutles (clip)

Man, I saw this years ago, and never found it again.  Always got looked at funny when I would laugh about RutCorp.  Cool link.

Hilarious!!!  I have certainly heard of The Rutles, but have never seen this video.
Very long; I have watched about half and I am nearly falling out of my chair laughing :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12:

On a similar topic, I just came across the Cheap Trick reproduction of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.
My only question is why?  Its an exact copy of the original.  Why would I not listen to the original if I want to hear Sgt. Peppers?
:rock-on:

lol... bigger than ROD... Stewart that is....

For those who dont know it, the thing with "tea" and bisquits...  an English bisquit is actually a cookie, the most popular being "Digestives", once falsely claimed to have a soothing effect on the, er.. digestive process.  Of those, Chocolate Digestives are thought to be divinely inspired, or at least, bigger than Rod.

The other item a lot of folks would miss is the Cheese and Onions in Yellow Submarine Sandwich.  The cheese and onion sandwich is hugely popular in the UK, and the virtual staple of the pub goers for midday meal.  They serve it between thick bread, smothered in butter, with a slab of cheddar cheese (white) and about a half inch of onion on top of that.  That, coupled with the warm beer and ale...and occasional Scotch egg, contributes to the London fog effect.

This is all true.

I think The Rutles was conceived by Eric Idle of Monty Python fame. Who was also a close friend of George Harrison.  Not sure if The Rutles came before Eric became friends with George, but what's the bet Eric got some inside tips on what it was like in those heady days.

Saw this movie years ago, lots of ironic comedy in there.

Almost as funny as "Some Kind of Monster" doco about Metallica, and less cringe. :icon_thumright: :laughing7:

It is George Harrison.  Eric Idol wrote, directed, acted, you know, quite a bit of a job on this one.  The list of famous people in the film is quite extensive.

Mic, Paul Simon, Dan Akroyd, John  Belushi, Gilda Radner, others from the Second City crowd.... Harison of course.

I couldn't quite guess when it was made, but seeing Belushi, I know when it was made before.  I'm guessing early 80s.  Enough so that the Beatles had been through all of those phases and controversies, and enough time had passed the satire was no longer in the present.

I also like the guy in Louisianna that anytime a film crew is around doing a documentary on white music, he influenced them.  The Ruttles, Frank Sinatra, Laurence Welk, etc.

Around minute 47:00, is that George Harrison in a gray wig conducting the interview as the "Rutle Corps" is being looted in the background?

Didn't get that far into the link. Was worried that my monthly allowance would take a hammering, and I'd be capped at 64K til the 9 October  :tard:
