The Mercedes Benz of Hardtail Bridges

Can you even do that? Isn't titanium a pain in the shorts to mill?

If you want Mercedes Benz quality and engineering or even BMW or Audi, think Schaller.  This is a wonder piece of work http://guitar-parts.biz/download/C7b0cde85X12e05dc7655XY5cd1/48052.jpg

Have you used one of those yet? I've been looking for an excuse for years..

From their page:

The new Hannes® bridge by Schaller - best of all worlds! A splendid fusion of innovation and tone in top quality - straightforward and noble.  The basic facts:

  • by far the most comfortable bridge on the market;
  • the perfect blend of the acoustic properties of all current bridge designs;
  • impresses with detailed highs, fast attack and a well-defined, powerful and harmonic sound;
  • touch-friendly material and smooth surface with no edges;
  • wear-free by waiving of metallic coatings at the string contact points;
  • fresh, but unobtrusive look which gives the guitar design still a more noble appearance.
  • Supplied with accessories. We are happy to supply longer height-adjustment screws on request

Installation guides, templates, technical drawings, further information etc. can be found directly via our front page or under Products/Product help/Hannes-Bridge.

Both longer intonation screws and height-adjustment screws are available on request.

Our Schaller Hannes® bridge can be fitted to any guitar, provided that the body is flat at the point where the bridge is to be placed. We supply the rear string anchor plate in a chrome finish as standard; however, this is available in every other finish on request at no extra cost. The pickups can be earthed via the string anchor plate if necessary.

The saddles were developed in close collaboration with Graph Tech. They are made of a special compound material. Teflon is one of the materials used in this special compound. In being a highly effective lubricant material (one of the most effective in the world), it dramatically reduces saddle-related string breakage, since no sharp edges can form on the saddles due to wear.

This patented saddle material measurably increases the instrument's sustain by up to 25% compared to brass and steel.

Your guitar will sound much more harmonious. This is characterized by singing high notes and quick response, not to mention a well-defined, powerful and even tone.

The saddles have a large surface area resting on the guitar's body, and are separated from one another by the bridge's construction. This physical difference in the saddle, compared to all other available saddles on the market manifests itself in a significant increase in dynamic response that can be heard AND felt.

From issue 3/2010 of "Gitarre & Bass" magazine: "I certainly don't know of any bridge with such an elegant and compact construction that is so easy and comfortable to play. ... The result is a very clear, very direct tone that is unobtrusive, balanced and powerful with long, stable sustain."

They said "Noble":eek:  Here is the link for the infoz:

Yeah, and I don't even need one right now. :icon_biggrin:

Well, see, "need" is sort of a relative term.  I....don't own a hard-tail.  Yet.  Thus, I *need* one.  See how that works?  Ok so I'm thinking this: a super-light chambered strat body, perhaps one of those rare ones you see that are like 3lbs 2oz. or whatever, gorgeous UC top finished in GLOSSY, rear route, 720 mod, single humbucker EMG 57, single volume knob, the above pictured gorgeous Schaller Hannes bridges, gold Schaller mini locking tuners.  3A birdseye maple neck/fretboard (one solid piece)--UNFINISHED of course (to burnish to a crazy shine); GOLD JUMBO FRETS, 1 5/8" nut width, WIZARD, 10-16" compound.

Now then.  I've just about talked myself into it.  Wonder if the Schaller Hannes is on that special bridge route list at Warmoth.  Gonna go check... :redflag:

In that case, I need one, I guess. :icon_biggrin:

It isn't a Strat, but this one is 3lbs. 3oz. Swamp ash on swamp ash. Darn tempting, eh?

Yeah I saw that body.  Not sure if that would do it for me.  I was thinking more this:

Body: Koa Flame (UC) on Black Korina

Neck:

And of course:

With an EMG 57:

Cost would be a bit over $2k.

Might do it.

If you're not dead set on a regular nut these fixed Ibanez bridges are really cool!

I haven't tried the Ibanez JS guitars that comes with those, did however try an Ibanez MTM guitar with a very similar bridge in a music store once, and the bridge was incredibly comfortable and could bend like a maniac without having strings go out of tune. It's always nice to tune a guitar with fine tuners, since you can tune downwards without having to go down a lot and then up again like you normally would to avoid the string pull
