The Booger - Green Swamp Ash Tele UPDATE

After playing this bad boy for awhile, I decided to change out the neck. Specifically, I just ordered a Goncalo Alves / Pau Ferro neck with 6100 frets. I actually love the neck thats on it, but I wanted to go unfinished and get the bigger frets as well as get something a little warmer to balance out the tele tone. Stay tuned!

Killer neck, playing raw is the only way to go... :icon_thumright:

Both great woods. If they were in greater supply, I'm sure a lot more guitars would use them. You're going to be very happy with that little lovely.

I'm curious why you didn't get stainless frets, though. I mean, $20? Would it have killed you? I guarantee you would have gotten a LOT more than $20 worth of pleasure out of them, even considering that $20 is a case of beer <grin>

I did get stainless on both. I got 6115 on the original one and I wanted to go to 6100, but both stainless. :)

how much dye did you use. I am looking a site that offers  aniline dye and sell it by the ounce.

$20 for a case of beer!!!!!.......What do you drink, Natural Light.... :toothy12:

No, I drink Molson Golden, which is imported from Canada.

We have the largest Kroger store known to man only a mile or so from here, and their beer/wine selection is staggering. Pricing on the stuff is surprisingly low, and on top of that they run sales all the time. I've gotten cases of MG for as low as $14.99, and when it's down there, I'll buy a boatload of the stuff. Typically, the local party stores will charge about $22-$24 a case, but that's the wrong place to get it. Kroger's is open 24 hours, so there's no reason to use the party stores unless it's the middle of the day and you don't want to suffer the lines at Kroger's.

Ha, figures you'd drink moose piss.... :laughing11:

Well, it's plentiful, it's fat-free, and it'll grow hair on your chest. I'm not sure what else beer is supposed to do.

Get you drunk... :laughing7:

Been a lotta years since I've been drunk. As much as I like beer and for as much as I drink, I don't like being drunk and don't let it happen.

So I have the Goncolo Alves neck on and to be honest I'm not sure about it. I recorder a few little noodles in Garageband to show you guys what it sounds like. I used Amplitube 3, with the Fender 65 Deluxe Amp completely dry (touch of reverb on amp). All stock settings. Volume and tone on guitar at full. Interface was Apogee one (which rocks).

This 1st clip starts with the neck pickup and goes to bridge near end (whet it gets more edgy):

I'm curious why you think the Goncalo Alves is responsible for that tone? Between the pickups, the cord, the digital signal chain, the modeller, the computer, etc., you have a lot of potential natural-born killers there. They could all be innocent, but they'd be the suspects I'd look at first.
