That Audix, sounds pretty cool. Is it clear?

As a bell.  And you can pick them up second hand for fairly cheap.  I have three of them.

$159 at Musicians Friend and The Midi Store.......new.

Max, I don't know where your interest lie in general but you do seem to be interested in design. Perhaps design engineering would be a good fit for you. Pair that up with another engineering field and your a made man. If I could go back and do it again that's exactly what I would have done. Electrical and Design engineering. Creating and mating form with function.

Just my $0.02 fwiw.

That sounds pretty good, Trevor. Might need to pick one up.

And Ken, never thought of that. Might need to go that way.

You say you want a Revolution? :icon_scratch: Bad acid anyone?

My next 2 mic purchases are going to be matched pairs for recording.  (also thinking of selling my MOTU units and getting an RME)

I dont' know about guitars, but for drums (even tho you're not recording drums trev) and strings,  or.. well mostly everything, my new favorite is a Neumann KM184, expecially in a matched pair in XY or ORTF.  They sound very nice.  I want to get a pair of those and a pair of AKG C414s, there's a bunch of different models of them but the one I want has the bass roll off and 5 polar patterns, A very nice mic.

Also.. Have access to a Telefunken U47 at school,  Absolutely phenominal for vocals: http://www.telefunken-elektroakustik.com/products/show_product.php?item=20&cat=mics

Both excellent choices!  If you can find them (the original Russian ones), the Octava MC012 was the closest knock-off of the KM184 I have ever heard, at about half the price.  From what I understand they are being made in China now, so the QC isn't quite the same.  Another nice small-diaphram condensor worth considering as a matched pair would be a couple of AKG 535's.

The Rockman was decades ahead of its time. Worlds first polyphonic guitar to MIDI to sampler in a box. Too bad they didn't provide a MIDI out.

It has to be the only answer for how you can plug anything in and it comes out sounding exactly the same.

Anyone want to buy a Soloist while I still know where it is?

I used to want to sound exactly like Tom Scholz.  Not so much any more.  But I seem to recall Billy Gibbons had a Rockman in his rig back in the Eliminator days.  Unless he was just shinin' us on.

Hi there! I may be one of the 9 ;)

Good news from here: My shoulder may get another surgery and docs are confident that may solve the problem at all... The biceps is still a little loose from the joint and one of the archors has lift and hurts everytime I move it...
I may be even able to come back to play rugby! :D

Also had the tests done for my sleep apnea, soon will have the results in hand and shall use a Positive Airway Pressure machine... my tireness shall be solved and I may go back to work on some guitars, hopefully!

Screw vintage, get the next German made uber gain tube amp.  Tone for days.  Either that or a Rockman.

Ironically I recently sold my original rockman at a garage sale!  I think I got $20 for it.

I had one of the originals back in the day and loved it, but it wound up being destroyed when somebody dropped a 4x12 on it. I checked out the "Jim Dunlop Rockman Guitar Ace" version currently available, and don't find the sound to be anywhere near as good as the original/"vintage" ones.

I had an XP100, it was fun and got a decent sound.  But my tastes went elsewhere.  Rockman is one of the names in music gear history that is fun to toss out there every once in a while.

Hey 'Nando, that sounds like good news for a change about your shoulder. :icon_thumright:

I wouldn't worry about going back to Rugby,it might be too much of a risk. I have seen plenty of Rugby & Rugby League players go back after shoulder surgery, get fit and back into a game, only to see the tryline open up, they take 2 or 3 players across the line with them, reach down to place the ball for a Try and end up *snapping* the shoulder again. You, being the rampaging Prop I imagine you are, wouldn't pass up the opportunity like I described and it's that spur of the moment extra effort that usually injures the weakened shoulder again.

Good to see you are also looking at solving the sleep apnea & getting some more guitar stuff underway in the near future! :blob7:

A friend in Grad school got that device for sleep apnea, and it was like he could see in color vs. a life in black and white.  He said the change was immense and very fast.

My sleep apnea was entirely spousal. I sleep better with it because she doesn't wake me up for snoring. I jest, but only partly - it pretty much started when I got married.

Yes, I'm kinda "go for it"... when fit I'm pretty fast for my size, so I always try to attack... I'm not sure if I'll come back, I've that fear too: Rugby is about heavy tackles and you don't use that protective gear they use on NFL... But if I ever start playing again, will not be as a prop... It's just too big efford on the shoulder on scrums and lineout...
As I'm having everyday-pain for almost two year, I may think very hard about, even because my plan to try to be a player for 2015 will not be a possible thing now... I imagine playing Rugby here in BR is even smaller than playing football in Australia, so if you get fit, train a lot with seriousness, it's possible to get into the national team, but I lost 2 years on the planning...

And thanks for the comments guys, the night sleep with PAP on the exam showed me that sleeping a whole night with the right pressure would be very good and wouldn't take very long to start feeling better! Anxious to start :)

Hmmmm.  I wonder if I have this.  What's the diagnosis?
