ok, so now I've bashed it to peices with a statement that made me seem like a tightfaced Tw@, I'm gonna shot myself in the foot and say I want one. I can get one with some college money about november/december time BUT it would mean delaying the warmoth strat i was going to build until i can get that cash for that beast about march next year.

So the question remains, do i go with the axe-fx or warmoth? or just be an ass, get and overdraft and have both  :icon_biggrin:

I probably need an amp more then a guitar but im desperate for a stratocaster i need my strat tone fix!!! but that means potencially keeping a band at bay until i have my gear.

Any thoughts on the situation?

Playing in a band trumps all else and with some luck and hard work will help you afford that guitar sooner - go with the AxeFx!

(that's basically just what I would do because the AxeFx gives me some bad gas too... :toothy12:)

If it was me, I'd borrow whatever additional money I needed to do both. But, the more responsible course would be to look at what you do and don't have, and get the missing parts before you start replacing existing parts. So, that says "buy the amp". But, if you hate your current guitar, you won't play it, and that's no good. Finally, if you blow all your tuition money on gear, how are you going to go to school? You'll be very sorry later on if you get stuck being a dog walker or a burger flipper because you don't have the qualifications to get a decent job, which you'll need in order to pay for more gear.

As a responsible adult who's got a pile of education and a respectable job,

Use the money on school.  Borrow an amp when you need one to play in the band.  Deal with the crappy guitar (learn to do a good setup to make it as good as it will be). Once graduated and loans are getting paid, buy the W and the AxeFx with the extra dosh you'll be making.

This assumes of course that your degree is marketable and it's not a PHd in theoretical/unapplyable math or something.

As someone with a very useful degree that has landed me a good job: only get the AxeFx or W if it does not impede on your schooling.

I wouldn't worry too much about my schooling guys cause I live in scotland, we get our tuition fees paid for us. :binkybaby:  We dont even have to pay to travel there cause we can claim travel expenses, currently living with my parents so the rent isnt too bad. I'm doing a degree in musical peformance so gear is a must.

plus i LOVE my current guitar, i has a parker fly, amazing peice of kit. But right now im really missing the neck + middle single coil sound you get from a strat.

The amp is definitely what im needing most of all, but I've waited so damn long for a warmoth and I keep putting it off for other things, like my parker. Then a new daw.
I finally told myself right I need to get this warmoth. But then axe-fx came along and blew it away again...

Looks like the axe-fx might be the choice...

The music scene here is just like everywhere else really. You have your teenybopper originals who play free gigs all over the place thinking they are on to something massive. You have your saturday night bar bands kicking around, there are plenty of places to play and all the major cities are within travel distance. Then you have your local pro's who are off touring and doing the sessions for god knows what.

Theres plenty of open mic nights around which is where i tend to amass myself. theres alot of good local talent kicking around with folk full of great ideas. I've always found them to be the best places to go to get great entertainment and meet all the musicians worth knowing. Awesome group of folk.

(Not meaning to hijack this thread) I host two jam nights a week at different clubs. Definitely a blast. Never been to Scotland but always wanted to see it.

i think this thread is pretty much done with to be honest! haha

If scotland is the place you want to visit here is my advice if you ever get round to it, If your big on architecture... then perhaps the cities would be a good place. BUT I beleive the bast part of scotland is to get away from all the populated areas and go out to the wilderness, bring a tent and go camping out in the hills or by a loch or something. If you like walking, then theres a route called the west highland way which is like an 80 mile route that takes you through some awesome looking countryside!

Wow, that's a lot of bus traffic. You live in Edinburgh?

Its about 30-45 minutes away which isnt to bad, like I said I live within travel distance of all the major cities, other then Aberdeen. But yeah its an alright place, I used to go to college in Edinburgh and grew a major distaste of its local populace. Glasgow is much better place in my opinion... well most of it! haha!
