Axe-FX Ultra?

Hey all, I am still around! I lurk most of my days here, but have been focusing on a zillion other things. Anyways, I'll get down to the nitty-gritty.

Do I still want an Axe-FX? Of course I do. Do I wish I could take advantage of the sale pricing on the XL+ that they are trying to blow out? Of course. But no matter HOW HARD I TRY (and I have tried, and tried, and tried...) I still cant bring myself to pull the trigger. Right now I am still using my POD HD Pro X and other plug-ins like Bias FX and such.

Is an Ultra worth 650-699? There is a local-ish guy that wants 699 for his ultra. I have only ever been around for the Axe-FX II days, but I have heard the Ultra still has really great FX and is still a serious contender, especially considering what I have. So the inevitable question, is it worth it? Is it worth 650? I know the III just came out, but its not going to happen until I actually start making money off playing, which uh...is pretty far off.

Thanks in advance, and how the heck is everyone doing?

My thoughts.  Are you going to run it through an amp (and defeat the amp and cab sims), or are you going FRFR?

Hi there,

The ultra is great.  In some ways better than the current box in that patch changes are instantaneous (not true with the current box).

It sounds great as well.  I recorded these two albums using it:

https://itunes.apple.com/lk/album/run-down-the-rails/483173258
https://itunes.apple.com/lk/album/invincible/1122208729

It's just as flexible and good sounding as the new units. The only time it falls down is in the number of tone blocks you try to use, which is more limited than the current boxes.

BTW - and yes I currently own both.
