I finally got all of the detail completed on the Tele neck. This is absolutely the last time I use this method to finish another inlay. Just don’t have the patience and time needed to try another one  Waiting on some tuning pegs and this thing can be assembled. Using the wait time to let all of the oil and acrylic dry.

Thank you, the wife said it was pretty. A compliment from her is nice but forum compliments are nicer.

Unbelievable work.  Outstanding.  Do you do this with the frets already on the neck?  Wow!

Did you do a similar idea with a Celtic knot pattern?

Thanks, the knot was done using crushed mother of pearl and CA glue. This is acrylic paint over shellac. The design was cut into the fretboard using a CO2 laser with the frets already installed. The laser doesn't cut anything not organic leaving the frets undamaged.

Very cool.  I have to ask, how much is the laser?  Where does one get one?

[/quote]The work was done by a shop in my area. I would guess low to mid 5 figures judging by the size of the equipment. The base is about the size of a pool table. I can get his contact info if you want.

I feel like this was part of a Star Trek plot, like the gas in ST VIII that dissolved organic matter. :)

Wow, that is quite a piece of art! That is very unique, there's definitely no one with that kind of fretboard around! Nice work!  :yourock:
