Tele 3-Way Switch Wiring

I started wiring up my Tele project which has a GFS three-way switch and GFS Neovin pickups.  I wired up the three-way switch and then looked at the Neovin wiring diagram which showed a different way to wire up the three-way switch.  I'm pretty ignorant of wiring but both make sense as to why they should do the job.  My question is whether it matters which way the switch is wired up.  Does it matter?

They are electrically identical.

The difference is that in one diagram, the commons are used as inputs, with the throws all joined together as an output, and on the other diagram, the commons are outputs, with the throws used as inputs.

Thanks!!!  I thought either would work but this is my first wiring job (other than the EMG SAs on my  Strat which is pretty much plug n' play).  This forum is really great!!!
