Hello,
Some of you may have noticed my avatar pic and maybe thought "Isn't that a Telecaster control plate? He doesn't seem like a telly guy, he's so nice. And cool!"

True, I was never really interested in Telecasters. I mean, I respected them, kinda liked the aesthetics, but I never wanted to have one.

That changed, maybe because of Aarons telly-related videos, or because I recently became a father and now I feel old enou... ah... I mean mature enough ( ;) ) to play a telly... maybe a bit of both, I'm not sure. But I like them now and that scared me a little. Well, they say you should face your fears and so I did!

First of all: No, I didn't misspell Telecaster in the titel. "Teile" is german for "parts", so a partscaster in german is a "Teilecaster". I read that somewhere years ago and always found it hilarious.

The Teilecaster

I thought a lot about the specs, missed some nice Telecaster bodys in the showcase, because I was thinking too long, but then, about 10 weeks ago, I saw them: Telecaster Replacement bodys, swamp ash, "Multi-Piece for Solid Colors", full contours, standard top rout (but with universal tele neck pickup), 155$ each!

I chose the lightest of the bunch and ordered it to be painted in spectra blue, 'cos I love metallics and I don't have a blue guitar yet.

I also ordered a neck. I didn't think about neck dive when I ordered it, but for some reason I thought this guitar needs a really thick neck, so it'll have a fatback profile with 1.650" nut width. Premium Azurite Malachite dots to (hopefully) go with the paintjob.

Telecaster® Replacement Guitar Neck

Modern
Shaft Wood: Roasted Maple
Fretboard Wood: Roasted Maple

Neck Back Profile: Fatback
Fretboard Radius: 10" - 16" Compound
Number of Frets: 22
Binding: None
Fret Size & Material: SS6105 - Narrow & Tall (Stainless)
Tuner Hole Size: Vintage Style (11/32")
Inlay Shape: Premium Dots
Inlay Material: Azurite Malachite
Side Dots: Luminlay w/ Black
String Nut: Standard Nut - White Corian
Mounting Holes: Standard 4-Bolt
Neck Heel Shape: Tele® Shape
Finish: None

From Warmoth I also ordered a neckplate and pad, screws for contured heel, Gotoh vintage tuners and vintage "In-Tune" bridge, string ferrules, all in chrome/nickel, and a blue shell pickguard!

Everything else I ordered at Rockinger:
Rockinger is making really good sounding, inexpensive pickups. I went for the "Telly Rhythm" and the slightly hotter wound "Telly Twister Bridge", both classic Alnico 5 singlecoils. They come in those wooden boxes!

Rockinger also makes pre-wired control plates and wiring kits, I chose the latter because I want a - please don't hit me - reversed control plate and they don't offer that. I know, for some of you this is blasphemy, but so is a contoured telly body, right? I'm a lost cause.

I spend yesterday afternoon soldering that together. It's a classic three way wiring with 250k pots, but with a 22nF tone cap and a treble bleed.

Another non-standard item I bought was that fancy looking "Göldo String Three".

And I bought a black/white/black telly pickguard in case I don't like the blue shell, I hope they line up! And in case I like neither of them: I have a "vintage white" pickguard blank, maybe I try to make on with the cnc.

Now I have to wait for the neck and body. When I ordered them, lead times for "in stock body adding paint/finish" were 12-14 weeks, right now it says 10-12. Ick bin jespannt wie'n Flitzebogen! That is Berlin dialect for "I'm as taut as a bowstring". I'm really excited!

Look forward to seeing the upcoming progress when the parts (Teile) arrive. Teilenachläufer seems better than caster as it has an umlaut which as everyone knows generates better tone

There will be Umlaut überall over the place, when I stöpsel this baby into my Marshall Verstärker and turn the Lautstärke all the way up to 11... or even zwölf!!!

It will have a lot of Höhen though!

Metallic blue with the Tele chrome hardware will look great! I might have been tempted to do a firebird in that universal route with a white pickguard.

Are the control plate, knurled knobs, and switch tip also Göldo? They make some interesting stuff. I had to copy paste it I don't know how to type umlaut vowels:)

Usually, wenn you can't type an umlaut (which is the case in email or web adresses) you write ae for ä, oe for ö and ue for ü. The Göldo web adress is www.goeldo.de

I'm not sure if the knobs are Göldo or Rockinger. You know, Rockinger was founded by Dieter Gölsdorf, who later founded Göldo (and Duesenberg Guitars btw.). On paper they are not connected anymore, Rockinger is run by other people. But both companies are right next to each other in Hannover, so... 😄

Interesting I knew about the Goeldo Duesenberg connection seeing their tremolos - but not about Rockinger. Thanks!

Man, all this German is making me thirsty for some great German Beer ! I think I have some of this in the beer fridge, have to drink one tonight !

Awesome design by the way.

As a non-German, I learned “Teil” from the Rammstein song “Mein Teil” where it had a more metaphorical meaning…
