Hi everybody. Apologies for the late announcement. (3 days in and the natives are getting restless!)

As in the  last couple of years there will be no Guitar of the Month contest in February. This gives  GOM staff a rest and allows extra time for our Guitar of the Year winner to bask in glory. It also gives you all a little extra time to get those projects finished and polished up and ready for March!

Cheers!
GOM

Thanks for the update and for running the monthly contest.

Here's a retrospective I put together of all the corner banners that I have on my computer (I know I didn't make a few months, and some of the old ones were redone into the 2nd gen style so I didn't include the originals there.

Ready for a really long image?

Just for the record and trivia, my Tele shown as August 2014 Guitar of the month, did not actually win.

The bass entered by Dolando, was the only other entry that month and the bass won. And an excellent looking bass it is.

As I recall Autobat put the two banners together ahead of time as he was going to be away or something.

It's good enough to include on my list. :headbang: Also July 2010 had a tie & runoff vote, so I included both versions of the banner I made then too (even though I misspelled it as Guitars the of Month).

Thanks for the kind words and for the support with the banners etc...

Similar story for my fancy-painted warmoth 12 string in July 2010.  It was looking like it could be a tie, but ultimately Jalane took it.  :headbang:

@GOM -- Thanks for the note, and @Autobat -- Thanks for the banners.

A suggestion re the banners: could they link to the build threads of the guitars in question? When I first started exploring the forum I would click on them, thinking it would take me to a page where I would learn something more about the guitar. IIRC, sometimes it would take you to a slightly larger version of the banner and that was it. Just a thought.

I saw klangster's beautiful fretless gecko and though... wow I don't remember that one.. then I saw the date and realized i had an 8 week old baby, might have something to do with missing it.

That would be nice, but there often aren't build threads to link to.

In that case it might link back to the contest page itself, where there would be some details about the build.

It might be more hassle than it's worth to add these links, but for the curious -- and that's probably most folks here -- it would be a quick and easy way to learn more about the winning instruments.

Thanks for your understanding and patience! Thanks also to AutoBat for the banners - it'll soon be time for his own long service award banner.

When the banner is up in the top right corner, it links to the relevant vote or submission thread. As Cagey points out, there isn't always a build or gallery thread to link.

When people use one of AutoBat's banners in their sig, it's just an image so it's up to that user if they want to make it link somewhere. Good idea though.

Ok, I see.

Not to be a PITA, but maybe there could be a pinned thread in the GOM subforum with the code snippet showing forumites how they could link the banner image in their sig to their build thread, or the vote thread, if desired.

If I get chance when I'm on a real computer rather than this iPad I'll see if I can put a code snippet together.

To link your image to a url, use this code:
Screen_Shot_2016_02_04_at_2_18_29_PM.png

(note to self, it's hard to post code in a reply, because it thinks it's code...)

That's all well and good, but that's time I'll never get back!

Below is the best I could do. 300 character limit isn't enough for your 3 individual banners with links. Even using 'tinyurls'. Unless there's a way to hotlink the images also using tinyurls?

Who says it has to win a contest to go in your signature? I was actually just pondering the notion of linking multiple pics to specific threads, but as was mentioned above character space was problematic. I ended up combining a couple of pics into a single graphic, but it still just links to the picture.....
