Thanks for the tip - I tried out the table-next-to-a-window-on-an-overcast day thing yesterday to get a couple of shots of pickups and they came out nicely.

Looking at them now I see the white balance is different, should have set it manually. Never mind.
EDIT: fixed that white balance now.

But yes, thread hijack over, lovely bass. I'd like a shot where the tortoiseshell "pops" a bit more?

I admit I didn't work too hard on getting that PG to stand out, but there were a lot of things I could have done better, really. I had a really small window of time, and I just wanted to get a "good enough for Facebook" shot

It would actually be really awesome if you could post a sticky in the Guitar/Bass of the Month with photography tips.  These shots are great. 

I just got a digital SLR and I have a North-facing window... so I'm totally trying this today.
