I just got this off ebay.  I'm wondering what would be the best way to finish it.  I have no access to any spray equipment.  I've heard that cedar is pretty soft, but this seems pretty hard to me (that's what she said?)  Do you think Tru-oil would be alright, or a harder poly finish?

I'm thinking Canary neck + White pearl pickguard

Put something down to seal it up, or I would imagine it would just keep taking more and more finish.

I'd agree with French polish ( shellac in layers)  apply with cheese cloth rub in , when it's finished it will look amazing .  There are some good video's out on You Tube

I saw some videos on French polishing a while ago.  I will look into that again.

Yes, it does smell nice.

A bit out of the ordinary, but you could consider Thompson Natural Cedar WaterSeal

If it's somewhere with sun often the beautiful color can/will fade to grey. (Cursed UV rays!)

Honestly, that was the first thing I though of, but never really considered it.  That wouldn't give a hard finish over the wood, would it?

French Polish!!! :party07:

Spoken like a true furniture man!  +1!  It's an involved, but very rewarding system.

You could always keep her bare and stored in your closet for moth-free clothes!  :laughing7:
