Anybody ever used one of these tonestyler super-duper tone pots? Seems like a reasonably good concept. http://www.stellartone.com/

I've seen probably 50 people use them on TalkBass.
You can make your own with only 6 positions for about $20 though.

I have one going into my baritone sitting here and another spare but youll have to wait until i get it all wired in for a comment.

I must say they are well made and the support is more than excellent from Steelartones Don Campbell

looks like it does the same thing as gibson's veritone circuit.

I've been experimenting and once the 5-way rotary switch arrives I'll show you what I've put together - a tone switch that produces only useful, and distinctly different, tones. Each position will sound different and good. I think it's a better approach even than the 16-position tonestyler because all the futzing around to dial in the right sounds has already been done - the tones that are available will be only the tones I want to have there. The problem is 'popping' when changing between caps.

I have not tried the ToneStyler, but I have had a chance to give the THD Quintet a test run with a vintage Tele.  Pretty darn cool.  Good tones!

I've got the Yamaha Nathan East Magic box, which is a similar approach but for bass.  Interesting tones that still fit well in a mix.

Yes, a necropost, but worth a mention, due to my just having finished a bass with a 10 position ToneStyler.  It's pretty neato, to put it mildly. I don't have any gear to record my bass, but this video gives a really good demo & explanation of the thing; better than I could do anyway.

I highly recommend it for someone who wants more variety than a regular tone knob, but doesn't want to bother with active pickups.
