I have a question someone here can probably answer....

Having a straiter/flater radius ona neck can translate to lower action no? :icon_scratch:

I'm ordering the neck either tonight or in the morning.. So I'm trying to get the details worked out. :help:\


Another thing... Can the jackson shape not be ordered in rosewood? wtf.

It all depends on the bridge and nut and how it's set up..I have Jacksons with floyds and flatter radii with super low action. And I have guitars with warmoth compound radius necks with floyds that have just as low action... :dontknow:

As far as the Jackson headstock in rosewood, you may have to call and ask, I had to special order my canary neck with the Ken Lawrence headstock...Canary as rosewood are not listed in the angled headstock necks.... :dontknow:

If they won't do rosewood, you might think about canary with rw fingerboard and veneer on the headstock.... :dontknow:

Well either way I'm painting the headstock to match, but I wanted rosewood for that unfinished feel yet warm sound.. is canary similar to either rosewood or mahogany?

It's very similar in texture and feel, and doesn't need a finish, but not sure on the sonic similarities as I don't have an all rosewood neck to compare with....

Hey James, you might consider wenge, I have two of them. One I have on a mahogany body, and even with some hot pups in it, it still has a nice warm tone. But still has some bite to it when turned up, also a wenge on a black korina body with some milder pups and has a nice mellow tone....Wenge doesn't need a finish either, and is very slick, especially with a good rub down with #0000 steel wool.... :icon_thumright:

But to paint the headstock face would require a good deal of filling, as it's a very open grained wood....

So i guess I'm gonna hold off on buying a neck and just work on finishing and assembling the body but I thought everyone would be glad to know I settled on white.

I don't want to just settle for a neck I don't really want.  :sad:

Well that's understandable, as some woods won't glue to themselves. Thus no Jackson headstock~rosewood scarf joint, and unless the wizard profile cutter or the machine that cuts it is broken, that doesn't make sense either... ???

That's a good possibility, those rosewood jackson shaped trees are hard to come by.... :dontknow:

I'll figure something out. Probably go with a mahogany/rosewood fretboard and paint the neck white to match

They may be making a batch of Strat or Tele necks at the moment.  Maybe a better choice of words would've been to replace "can't" with "won't."

I wouldn't figure that would be an issue, since they have the ok to do all of fenders other shapes, maybe just not in the mood........lol
