I am thinking about doing another build. A bass this time. Being that I primarily a guitar player and not a bass player, I think I want to do a short scale bass, 30".
I love the feel of a raw neck but from what I understand, Warmoth doesn't use stiffening rods in the short scale basses. I assume there is still a truss rod though. Because of the lack of stiffening rods, should I consider sticking with a more stable wood with a finish, like maple? Or do you think the truss rod alone is enough on a raw neck living in high humidity.
