I don't install anything but SS frets, and laugh uproariously at those who don't. They're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Why anybody would build a neck without them is a mystery for the ages. For all intents and purposes, they don't wear and have no impact on tonal character, plus it feels like you're playing on oiled glass. The only downside to them is the vast majority of techs who want to charge anywhere from 50% to 100% over their normal fee to shape them. This is mainly due to them having dull/cheap tools that make working stainless a pain in the shorts for time/money reasons. Luckily, there are enlightened gentlemen like myself who'll do it for a reasonable price and once they're done, they're done.
