Hi boys, in your opinion the SS frets is good for vintage strato clone? Is different the sound of this frets?

Thanks

No difference in sound. Widely reported to be nicer to bend on, although I didn't really notice it.

You will not wear flat spots in it, ever, though. So that's a definite plus, whatever else there might be about them. For that reason alone they can be recommended.

I have it on other guitar and for me are very nicer, but I'm not sure that the sound is the same... my guitar have a ton of high frequences, but could depend of other factor..

I don't install anything but SS frets, and laugh uproariously at those who don't. They're the greatest thing since sliced bread. Why anybody would build a neck without them is a mystery for the ages. For all intents and purposes, they don't wear and have no impact on tonal character, plus it feels like you're playing on oiled glass. The only downside to them is the vast majority of techs who want to charge anywhere from 50% to 100% over their normal fee to shape them. This is mainly due to them having dull/cheap tools that make working stainless a pain in the shorts for time/money reasons. Luckily, there are enlightened gentlemen like myself who'll do it for a reasonable price and once they're done, they're done.

It depends on what you're trying to go for:

If you're trying to recreate as closely as possible a vintage instrument for whatever reason, then you should do everything as close as possible to the way it was done, even if significant improvements have been made over the last 50 years.

But if you're just going for vintage looks/flavor, I see no reason not to take advantage of improvements like SS frets. Just don't tell the vintage purists about it.

Thanks Cagey.

Drew my only problem is related to the sound. I have no interest to recreate as closely as possible.

I installed stainless frets on my Strat-12 for long term wear.
They did a great installation job and they feel 'normal'.
There is no bending on the 12-string, but they are nice and slick.

Unless you're Bender...
