However, we will have a 12/12/12 this year. That sort of thing won't come around again for a while.

but there won't be a 12/22/12.............

Of which, you used to be one. Remember when you were so fanatical about the Mayan calender that you had wild night terrors, and had to take weeks off of work to write internet blogs and wave signs at Walmart to spread media hype?

Assuming one does write one's dates that way, wouldn't that mean there was a 9/10/11 last year, an 8/9/10 the year before that, and so on?

What a bunch of killjoys we are.

yeah, and I was very disappointed on June 6th 2006...nothing happened at all!
Not exactly true. That's the day UPS brought my Blueshawk. It still makes me smile. My very own little 6 6 6.

Proving once again that the electric guitar is Satan's plaything.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

You used to call me at two in the morning begging to borrow tin foil because you found a hole in your hat, and all the stores were closed.

I've got a 12/21/12, end of the world gig booked.  I'm excited about the possibility of no load out.

Prepare for disappointment.

on the whole date thing, i'm not sure there is any reason we would want to go in order of time span.. i mean does it matter?? why should the length of the unit have anything to do with the order? i don't get why people have an opinion over this. it's such an insignificant detail. not to mention most americans never say "the 11th of October." it sounds way too proper. in most cases we will say "October 11th." it makes just as much sense to order it the way we commonly speak as it does to go in size order in that neither reasoning has any real significance...

why i have an opinion on people having opinions on this subject is something i'm currently asking myself  :icon_scratch: i should just be disinterested but meh....

also i like the imperial system. 12 and powers of 2 are often much nicer to work with than decimal. mutltiplying and dividing fractions is is much cleaner on paper than decimals and from a measurments standpoint it is easier to visulized a 8 slice pie chart than a 10 slice. i tend to think in fractions and proportions not numbers so maybe i'm weird but imperial makes sense to me beyond familiarity. 12 also has more whole number factors than 10.

You clearly have never had an OCD moment in your life. :blob7:

Edit: Post number 5150. That ought to count for something. Time for an involuntary psychiatric hold, or should I listen to some Van Halen? :icon_jokercolor:

DMY looks the most used around the world.  :icon_biggrin:

If you were going to name the day of the week at the same time as saying the date, what would you say? I'd say "Thursday the 11th of October".

most languages also have different grammar rules than english, so should we add extra words into our  sentences so we can structure them backwards and still be proper english while also sounding more like the rest of the world??? not sure what you are getting at but if you want dd/mm/yy by all means write it that way.. sometimes to avoid confusion on military docs that don't specify format (some actually required yyyy/mm/dd) i'd write dd,month(spelled out) yyyy so there was no possible way to misread it.

Actually,

-12 months
-28 to 31 days
-infinite (for the sake of argument) number of years

In that sense; it's least to greatest.  1 to 12<28 to 31<infinity.

But it goes by interval of time.
28-31 days to the month and twelve months to the year. (And ten years to the decade, and ten decades to the century, and so on.)
