Soldering Iron Tip Question

I'd probably go with this one

T15-D24

If you decide to try building pedals or circuit boards you'll want a fine conical tip, but for the guitar work, this one should do fine.

Right.  While we're here, what's the general thought on safety circuits (e.g. cap and resistor wired in series on the bridge ground)?

Well, that's quite a machine. Did I pick the wrong CENTURY to grow up in?  :o I personally would go with a 1.5mm chisel or bevel there:
T15-1603
T15-BC1
T12-D12
I kind of like lotsa heat, on and off really quick.

I've heard about the safety circuit, but not the part about it actually making everything quieter. I don't ground in a way similar to the one I see here:
http://www.audiosys.com/safety-circuit.html

All my grounds run to a single terminal - I don't understand what it would do?

the best way of selecting tips is to test how long it takes to burn thru your palm. I prefer a tip with a 10-15 second burn-thru time, but some guys push the fast burning ones hard.

If I ever spend $250 on a soldering iron that requires $15 tips, I want somebody here to come kick me in the 'nads. Hard.

That said, a 1.5mm or 2mm chisel tip is the way to go.

Many thanks for the input on the tips!

What I want to know about this safety circuit is how necessary it is with contemporary amps that have three terminal plugs.  Does it add any noise?  I'm hoping someone here has had experience with this kind of thing.

Incidentally, I actually bought a Squier Telecaster and some new pickups; DiMarzio Tone Zone T and DiMarzio Chopper to be wired up with a push-pull split all.  I figured it would be best to practice on a less expensive guitar before wiring up the Warmoth custom.  Fun Fact:  Warmoth quoted me six weeks build time on my rosewood strat, finished in three, and then I had to ask them to take it back until next month because of funding shortfalls; I am saddened.
