Solderable breadboard as ground bus

The ones we have at work are about 1" wide and probably...half-inch per terminal?  But I see what you mean about real-estate.

PCB wire-to-board terminals are probably not much of a space saver over the blocks I suggested.  Going an even more basic route, what about just putting ring terminals on all the ground leads and screwing them to the body cavity in contact with the shielding?  Even without a shield, they'll all be in contact at the same point and grounded to something.
 
This worked better than I had hoped.  It's a bit big for a front routed bass, but it worked well on this rear rout.  I had lots and lots of ground wires to contend with on this one.
