So, tone IS in the wood, not the pickups....

Remember, though, the most important part of a
guitar's tone is two things... the instrument itself and the player...
the pickups are less important than the wood, but nobody, Duane included, knew that then.

This fellow is selling what does appear to be Duane Allman's goldtop - though Duane had take the (good?) pickups out to put in the tobacco sunburst he used to record the "Live at the Fillmore" album. It's been refinished three times, and the part where the dog chewed on it has been repaired, but it does seem like you can buy the wood that was used to record "Layla & Other Love Songs" and the first few Allman Brothers album. It's only a million bucks -
if I had 100 million or so, I'd probably snatch this right up. :cool01:

With that many refinish jobs, non-original pickups, etc. that's worth MAYBE 10-15K if you can actually establish provenance for the serial number; as to it being worth a million because Duane played on the wooden parts, I don't think so....

Pfft.  I agree with jack.  Go add that to the Selling It thread, stubhead.

Even Pearly probably isn't worth a million dollars, and that's an all-original '59 burst.
