This is a budget Strat I built w/ Warmoth maple 3-piece laminate conversion-type neck.

Body: GFS
Neck:  Warmoth 3-piece maple laminate, conversion scale, 59 roundback profile
Neck Finish:  Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil
Pickup:  TV Jones Magnatron (bridge position 8 Kohms)
Tuners:  Sperzel

Looks sweet, I was going to something similar to this, but the body i wanted was out of stock.  :hello2:

Sorry.  Here are some more, including one that shows the figure on the back of the neck.

I wouldn't have thought that headstock would look right on a Strat, but it works pretty well, doesn't it? I like it.

Actually it does match the body better, with the "overhorn" being longer than the under, and the headstock follows that design.

Looks great.  What mods if any did you need to do to the neck or neck pocket to make that work?  Was it a direct bolt up or did you get a neck without screw holes.

Love the pick up too.  Post some clips.

The screw holes were off a bit on the GFS body, so I had to alter them a bit.  I had to use a thinner single-ply pickguard as the laminated type were too thick to accommodate the fretboard overhang.  I also found that I had to slightly shim the neck to achieve a proper angle.  The GFS bodies are a fantastic price, but they are hand-routed so they are not going to have a high-precision rout like the Warmoth stuff.  Not a big deal if you are covering with a pickguard.  They are usable bodies if you are willing to do a bit of extra work.

I will have to try to do some clips.

That's excellent.  I have a W headstock on several strat bodies, and I'm not going back to the old, boring ones.  It's really, really cool.

Very nice!  Are you possibly Laika from "Laika & The Cosmonauts?"

No.  I am not any sort of notable personality.  Just use the Laika moniker.

If you're not already into their stuff, here's a radio appearance they did in 2004:

They're a fun band.
