Damn Doug, that is too coooool...
I had not really looked at the Espanada's very close before you posted that pic on my Silvertone 1446 post.
They are sweet indeed!  The one you posted on my page had metal binding that looked like the trim on a counter-top from an old diner.
It looked awkward at first, but the more I looked at it, the more she grew on me.
Do you know what year this body is from?  Be sure to keep us posted with your progress pics.
I have been doing searches for some other old Silvertone parts.  I will let you know if I come across any Espanada parts.

The ones with the aluminum trim are rare. I've only seen a couple on the old interwebs. May have been a special order or something, but it does look kool. And that's the first thing I thought of when I seen one Bart, was the old formica tables from the 50's with the aluminum trim. Might do that to mine.... :icon_biggrin:

I was told it needs a Floyd.... :icon_jokercolor:

Doug, I hate to break your heart, but you need to keep it period correct!  :dontknow:
The Floyd was not invented until 1977.
Ya gotta go with a Bigsby...  :evil4:

Not to worry Bart, I wouldn't think of putting a Floyd on it, and no Bigsby either...Just straight up Trapeze tailpiece....

Sweet! I've seen different pickups in these. I don't know too much about the guitar but it has a great shape. I do have some appropriate pickup covers that would look great. The interior of the cover is big enough for a P90.

I was just thinking about getting in touch with you Ken if I can't find some OG pick ups for it. I figured I'd have you make some custom pups for me...

I now see the project guitar.  That is way too cool.  I like the direction you are going with it.  Those mustache pickups look awesome, and are definitely period-correct.  What is the tone of those like?  I imagine a pickup with Telecaster-like thin tone, that the body of that guitar would fatten up a bit.

The trapeze tail piece is a winner, as well.

I couldn't tell from the picture if it was a bolt-on neck, or not.  If it is a bolt-on, are you thinking about a neck plate for it?

I bet that thing will make some slinky jazz tones.  What gauge strings are you thinking about?

I was in Guitar Center last night and saw this.  I immediately thought of your project here when I saw this used Silvertone head.

That's pretty cool Brent. I'd eventually love to get one of those old Silvertone tube amps.

It's got a glued in neck much like an acoustic, so no neck plate. There were some Silvertones that were bolt on necks but not many. And you are correct they do make some jazzy tones with the right pups...

Thumbs Up on those gold-foil p-ups, Doug--Huge coolness factor there!  :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright:
