shellac sanding sealer thinned with white spirit over stain ?

hi,
please help !!!

i have stained my mahogany body with deep mahogany stain.
i applied 3 coats of it (letting it dry for 24 hours between coats).
now, i`m going to fill the grain with wood filler but before that i have read to put a wash coat of sanding sealer.
can i apply a shellac sanding sealer thinned with white spirit (like 50:50 or 1:3) over the stain or will this mix ruin or remove the stain because of the spirit?

you can thin the shellac, but you do it with denatured alcohol, not spirits.

is denatured alcohol the same as Methylated spirit?
