I thought especially Greg would get a kick out of this idea.  He had a little chemistry lesson when he clear coated it, and had to start over.  But it came out pretty dope.

It looks pretty good for sharpie.  But yeah, anything with alcohol or I'm sure various other chemicals will melt the ink. 
 
sharpies are great.  Ued one to fix a chipped Gibson headstock.  Coated it with super glue....seemless.

This guy obviously has some skill...I wonder if poly would have had the same effect

Yep, alcohol, acetone or just about any other media that aids in atomizing in an aerosol will dissolve Sharpie ink, as the base for the ink is alcohol.. However, had he scuffed up the surface and not just drawn on the slick finish. And then clear coated with the guitar laying flat, it could have been sprayed on lightly to begin with and work up to heavier coats....I know, I've been there and done that... :icon_biggrin:
