Seymour Duncan Triple Shot Humbucker Rings ?

Hey,
Does anybody out there own these rings?  I am trying to split my two humbuckers and add a series/parallel switch to my Warmoth V build.  I am having some challenges getting everything in the cavity.  Trying to avoid getting out the dremel and doing some creative carving.  I just found out about these Seymour Duncan triple shot rings that have the switches built in.  Sounds really like an awesome concept; plus it would be nice not to drill three holes in my body for mini-switches.

Here is my question for anybody that actually has a pair!  I already have had Jet Black Ebony humbucker rings and knobs custom made for this baby.  Does it look like the electronics from these rings could be removed and transplanted to my ebony rings.  I really love all my custom wood pieces and would hate to give them up.  However, these humbucker rings seem to be sweet and would keep a nice clean look for my geetar.  I might consider using them anyway, but would sure like to preform the transplant.  Any thoughts? :icon_scratch:

Thanks for your thoughts, time, and  :rock-on:

That's what she said!

But seriously.

Well, I've got a pair, just not the humbucker rings.

I doubt it could be transplanted easily, but I'm guessing it could be done

Max,
You normally are not such a bragger!  :laughing8:
Have you got both feet firmly panted on the ground?  :icon_tongue: :toothy12: :icon_tongue:

No. I'm sitting on a couch. I've got no feet on the floor.

Oh, btw, the But Seriously was meant to be a "moving on" kinda thing :P

I think I recall Orpheo saying he was going to get some.  Might be worth shooting him a message or wait for him to reply here.

:dontknow:

I've got a set, but I haven't installed them yet.

Hey,
Does it look like the unit can be taken apart or are the electronics sealed?  :icon_scratch:

I would just use the rings and use the other parts on another build. The problem with any electronics that small is that everything is PACKED, especially into something as tiny as a pickup ring, and on top of that im sure its really delicate. I've wanted some, but havent really dont any amount of research other than seeing them and thinking, "Thats a good idea."

It's sealed. There may be a way to break them open, but it isn't meant to be.

Last night I did the ring on my neck pickup. It's really tight in there, though. I should have taken a picture of the pickup wire connecting to the PCB. I think I'll unscrew the rings and take a picture.

I know; it's not the sensible thing to do!  They would just be so perfect!  I was going to wire my V with 2 split humbuckers and a series/parallel switch, which would require drilling holes for 3 mini switches in the body.
Now these rings come along that do just exactly what I was going to do with three mini switches.  :icon_scratch:

I already have custom made humbucker rings, volume & tone knobs, LP 3-way switch knob, truss rod cover, and rear cover, all done in Jet Black Ebony.
Using the plastic humbucker rings kinda ruins the theme goin' on.

I already have a pair ordered.  I think what I will do is order another single and try rippin' it apart.  That way, if I screw it up, eh...  I've wasted $25 on worse things than that.  Plus I'll have a left over good set for my next build.

You know how it goes...  Hey, I've got an extra set of cool humbucker rings.  I might as well buy some pick-ups, a body, and a neck; then do another build!  :toothy12:  :toothy12:  :toothy12:

Howzabout push-pull switches?

Tried that... HATE them!!!
Nothing is more frustrating than trying to pull out a stubborn knob in the middle of a jam :evil4:

I can't see the little itty bitty tiny miniscule switches that will probably be on the triple shot ring being better than that :P

They are slide switches.  Just a push in one direction or the other...
Maybe it's just me, but I can never get a grip on those push/pull switches for a quick change.  :sad1:

What kind of knobs?

Standard Strat type knobs.  I guess something with a gnarled edge would probably work much easier.  I have never tried that type of knob  :dontknow:
However, I don't think they come in Ebony?  If you have seen something like that, please let me know where!

Man just let the humbuckers be humbuckers! :laughing7:

Do you actually use the single coils? I thought it would be a blast when I had them, till I only used them to show people that I had them.
