Seymour Duncan George Lynch "The Hunter"...

I don't like it, very muddy.  In fact, I'm thinking about ripping out all the brand-new wiring because I hate it so much I'm thinking I might have wired something up wrong.

I've lowered the pickup to triple the distance that I normally go and it sounds significantly better.  Now that I think about it, Lynch's Kamikaze uses a non-recessed Floyd with no neck pocket angle and the body sits untypically far below the strings.  This pickup may be designed to work with that setup

Just out of curiosity, what guitar did you install it in? What body & neck woods? What amp were you playing it through?

I mostly play high-gain through my Kemper, I'm particularly fond of the Laboga profiles.  I also play a lot through my Ceriatone OTS and it sounds pretty good at med-gain levels.  Just the high-output pickup and high-gain amp just isn't working for me.  But, with that said, I've always prefered med-output pickups so there is a bias

Update:
Okay, just installed "The Hunter" in my ESP M-2.  It has an alder body (if anyone cares) and original Floyd Rose bridge. I think it sounds great in this guitar.  It's not muddy at all. I have it adjusted 3/32" from the strings when fretting the last fret. I like it better than the JB that was in there (I did not hate the JB). It even sounds good clean.

This is a bright guitar to begin with. One of my favorite pickups is the Duncan Screamin' Demon (I have 4) but in this particular guitar, it was just too thin sounding.

This is the 4th bridge position pickup I've had in this guitar, and I like it best (it was wound by MJ).
The others were EMG 81, Duncan TB-12, and Duncan JB.

Of course "The Hunter" is way over-priced because it's a signature model.  :-\

I'm not an expert on Lynch but I haven't heard a muddy sound from him or his pickups. A friend of mine has the Screamin Demon and I have the Super V, it has a lot of highs & high mids on my Gibson SG. Not my favorite pickup on this guitar, but definitely not muddy.
