Setting up a new neck

20 and nop mine is awesome he know everything you can Imagine. He help me to makes analog guitar pedal with sheme i find online and repair guitar necks when I screw up  :laughing7:

I'll post a video of the fuzz face we did wich is an exact replica of the fuzz face with hendrix mod when I have time. Might do a video tutorial (featuring epic dad) on how to make these if anyone is interested?

I'm only a rock star wannabe... In real life, I'm a carpenter.  In addition to the sage advice of using wax and drilling an appropriately sized pilot hole, ALWAYS-ALWAYS-ALWAYS do a beta in a piece of scrap wood.  That way you will discover whether your screws have defects in the scrap, rather than in your headstock.  Test every screw you put into the guitar. It requires extra time and effort... until you have to core and plug the ooopsies.

I have need string retainers on my warmoth tele neck.  I least one for the first and second string.  If I did not have it I had an bad buzz.

My rule of thumb is split the distance between the effected tuners and nut, leaving an almost equidistant amount of length between them.  Spend and extra buck and get the roller ones.  Less of a pressure point on the string

That fatback will sustain for days and need very little seasonal adjusting if finished properly.

I've been a wizard user for well over 20 years, and am transitioning.

My Standard Thin on my Baritone Tele has gotten quite comfortable in my hands, and I'll be making the switch from a 1 5/8" nut width to a 1 11/16", along with the '59 back contour.

Be sure to post final pics once installed on your body.  Nice neck!

Ok guys it is done  :toothy10: I just finished my first guitar neck! Even with quite some mistakes that made me learn a lot I am just too happy with the result :

For some reason it was longer than the older neck and I had to spend 3 hours with a dremel sanding little by little the neck pocket to make it fit. I also ajusted the bridge and pickup height and it sounds amazing. The new american made screw was alsmo much better then the ones with the tuners.

You can see here the results of some of my mistakes (screws broke in neck and I dropped it while trying to screw it  :-\ )
But even with all of this I wouldn't change it for any other neck in the world.

By the way if any of you guys have a trick to fix the little dent on the top let me know! its not chipped off it's like if the wood was "bent". The light reflection in the picture make it look worst than it is...

Anyway thanks to you guys for the help and usefull tips! very much appreciated. See you next time. :icon_thumright:

You'll have to remove the finish from the indentation, exposing the grain, then employ the use moisture to "swell" the dent.  May or may not work.
Leave it as is... I think it's bitchin!

I vote for "leave it alone" as well. Unless it really grinds your gears, the chances of making it worse are too good to mess with it. Speaking of chances, if you pretend it never happened, it's unlikely many will notice it unless you point it out.

Hmm... Don't Dads become irrelevant at the age of 15?

How old are you anyway? :laughing7:

Nope, dads don't ever become irrelevant!  It's about the age of 15 or younger that you start to think their irrelevant.
Then you grow up and realize you were only fooling yourself...
