Series or Parallel?

I am wondering which type of connection will give you double the microfarads of capacitance when joining two capacitors?

I originally assumed a series connection of the two would yield double capacitance. But I saw a lot of videos on electronics saying a parallel connection of two capacitors doubles the capacitance.

Not an electrican myself, so kinda stumped. Any qualified folks here could perhaps lend a comment?

Also, when 2 caps of the same value are in series, the net capacitance is halved. Counter intuitive but true. The max voltage is doubled however which is the reason they are sometimes wired in series.
