Second Guessing My Order - HSS Wiring

I put my order in for my next Soloist HSS build, but now I’m second guessing myself. I had it originally built out with the standard 3 control / blade switch strat controls, but after they changed it to 2 controls I went ahead with that because I liked the looks of it better and thought I would be able to do all the switching I wanted with maybe adding a super switch, push/pull, etc. After trying to narrow down my wiring options I’m thinking I should call and see if they can change it to 3 controls. I’m not seeing a lot of wiring diagrams out there for HSS with just 2 controls, and if I want a250k for the single coils and 500k for the Humbucker, not sure how that would work. I’m going with the Mojotone ’59 clone HSS 3 piece set, as I’ve had great experiences with other Mojo pickups and these sound very intriguing. Would want the standard combinations, plus would like an option of splitting the bridge + neck for a tele sound.

Any advice is appreciated. I know there was just a thread ‘Ideal wiring for hss strat’, but didn’t want to hijack that. @Hodgo, if you’re reading I saw you mentioned designing a wiring schematic in that thread, so your input would be great.

Thanks

When I've done humbucker and single coils I just go with an all 500k pots. Haven't had a problem. Also, I use the 10 way Freeway switch which will give you splitting options. Also, put on a prs style treble bleed. YMMV.

Happy to design a schematic for you, just tell me how you imagine the controls working.

It’s the pot AND the tone cap that set the 3dB point (cutoff frequency) for the range of low pass filtering you want to achieve. I use 3300pf tone caps.
Exactly, so with only one tone pot I would have the same value for the humbuckers and single coils.

Mojotone recommends.022 and then 500k pots with resistors to the single coils to give them a 250k load. Guess I should be able to do that with one volume and one tone. Then maybe a super switch for more combinations and splitting.
I hear ya I still am liking .015’s for single and humbuckers.

Most Fenders use a high value cap, which is a .047. Gibsons typically use a .022. For about the last 20 years, we’ve been using .015 in our shop on any guitar with any pickup design and are always happy with the results.

There is no right and wrong. Do what you want.
