Just thought I'd do a pull , it's a question I've been wondering myself and I think some other newbies are wondering too!  :rock-on:

Some information regarding the two:

Schaller Licensed Floyd Rose:
I believe that the Schaller company Makes the Original Floyd Rose too.
The Schaller's knife edges are the only solid steel part of the Floyd which is said to result in a "Warmer sound"(Thanks DocNrock) :icon_biggrin:
The problem with licensed Floyd Roses is that most of them don't make the knife edges as hard as they need to be which results in wear and tear of the knife edges.
Also every licensed Floyd Rose I've ever played doesn't flutter as well.

Original Floyd Rose Tremolo:
Sturdy made of steel
Lots of routing needed which some say messes with the tone of the guitar (Which I believe is complete bull it's just guitar player paranoia!)

The Schaller is warmer than the OFR, but not because of the knife edges.  It is because the base plate of the Schaller is cast, not steel like the OFR.  I have both and both are good trems.  I prefer the OFR over the Schaller.  I have heard good things about the Gotoh Floyd, and was going to try one, but they only have a 41mm block.  For a recessed trem, 37mm is needed if you use a trem spring cavity cover.

Oops I meant to say it was warmer because only the knife edges are made of steel. Sorry about that DocNrock.  :icon_biggrin:

I've had both

go schaller, the original's clamp screwheads extend further out towards the ass of the guitar.so you can pull backwards further w/o hitting the body
