Scale, 24 fret and 7/8 option

I was talking to another forum member today about a build and he wants a 24 fret tele.

Aside from the pickup relocation, he would like 25.5 inch scale.

He hears that fret access to the upper frets fret on the 7/8 scale bodies is better, however these have to have the smaller scale neck.  I can see these 7/8 with a 22 fret neck but what would it be like with a 24??

He sent me this...http://www.sevenstring.org/forum/standard-guitars/120906-7-8-tele-strat-24-fret-24-75-scale-necks-warmoth.html

I guess the question is:
Is upper fret access better on a 7/8th 24 3/4 scale or a full size with a 25.5 scale?

Additionally...why would a conversion neck with 24 3/4 scale not work on these 7/8 bodies??  It looks like only the warhead works.

Thanks

Because a conversion neck expects the bridge in a different place.

If you look at what Warmoth outlines as the dimensional difference between a standard and 7/8 T-style body, you can see there's so little difference in the lower cutaway that it's not even worth talking about...

It may be a special neck? Kinda like a Jaguar neck - one of a kind. Seems like they say somewhere in the verbiage that it's a special neck. I don't know why it has to be a Warhead - headstock cuts don't affect scale length. But, It may have to do with a special jig they use that's not set up for or adjustable to anything else.

Along those same lines, they have a few unusual limitations you'll come across from time to time. For instance, you can't move a Tele neck pickup rout to compensate for a 24 fret neck, but if you have the neck pickup cavity routed to fit a Strat pickup, they can move it. ???

Well, I'm hooked on the little buggers - 24.75" scale, 24 frets. The "issue" is the 24th fret is just a bit past the neck cavity's juncture, so you can reach it with your ring finger, even your middle finger, with your thumb still behind the neck. 22 fret necks feel obsolete to me.

Vejichan has been asking on the seven string.org forum and to me via PM, as well as here.
I think that the 7/8 "T" with the Warhead is the closest to what he wants that he can get.

thats who i was talking to...

On a similar note...he does not want a Warhead.  I suggested a tele with a 24 fret strat neck.  The build does not give the option of a pickup repo for the 24 fret.... :dontknow:

I suggest he call Warmoth and inquire if he can order the 24x24.75 with a paddle head, so that he can cut his own Tele head.
I have no idea if they'd do that, but the worst that he can get is "no".

Agree.  I think he wants a strat type head...
