Satch vs. Coldplay?

the similarities are uncanny, and to me more than the money, i'd be pissed if someone was getting a free ride off my hard work, so thats why i'd sue, but its nothing that hasn't happened a million times before, and will keep happening, i like satch and coldplay, not really in favor of either

This is the song I was referring too in my earlier post.  I think the band is Creaky Boards, maybe that's the name of the song.  Chris Martin of Coldplay, being the celebrity he is, was noticed seeing this band at a venue.  Months later the Coldplay similarly sounding song arouse, and now the similarities with the Satch piece predating it.  Like Guitlouie, Justin, and I stated earlier, it's not always intentional.  Hooks get stuck in your head, even if just casually, and your subconscious doesn't always recognize it's not original.  Chris Martin and Coldplay write original music (or do they?), so they would have no reason to blatantly steal something and pass it off as their own.  I didn't realize that was their biggest hit to date, it kind of surprised me, but they were a household name before that.

I hope Satch gets the money, there'll be a lot of it. Though I honestly don't like his music much at all.

In terms of modern pop music, Coldplay is an great band. I would say most of their music is better than 90% of what is on the radio.

completely agreed, except I think there should be a middle road for the money, but who knows what will come of the lawsuits...

I like some of Pat Metheny's stuff. For pure Jazz, Question and Answer - - and for the more "world music" type stuff, Still Life...Talking  - - both are favorites of mine.

Its all good.  We all have different musical tastes, but come together here to build guitars/basses.  I personally do not find Joe Satriani's music boring at all, but hey, I respect those of you who do.

I hope Satch wins just because Coldplay have probably made more money on that song than Joe has made his entire career.  I'm kinda biased because I've been a Satch fan forever and am uncontrollably anti Coldplay.  I just don't get what people see in Coldplay really, but people could say the same about JS.  I guess I'm just not into dudes enough to "get" Coldplay.  :laughing7:
