Rio Grande bass powerbuckers?

Has anybody tried the Rio Grande powerbucker bass pickups?  I'm gearing up to do my first build (a bass, obviously enough).  I was originally thinking of using two Musicman style buckers, but I love the rude, glassy tone from the "double J" style buckers, plus it affords me the option to get true Jazz bass tones when I coil-tap.  Not to mention that I plan on using passive wiring, and I haven't seen very many MM equipped basses with passive electronics.

If I'm not mistaken, MM style pickups have very low output and the active electronics are what gives you the volume, like EMGs.  I'm not sure though.
