Hi

I'm new on this forum

I'm planning to buy a warmoth neck and body very soon.  I need some of your recommandations.

I already know the specification of the neck I will order :
Angled Neck pro, maple, indian rosewood figerboard, reverse right hand, 6105 fret, 10-16 radius, vintage tint gloss,

For the body I have some ideas but I really need recommandations :

- I want a warm tone
- the strat won't have pickguard
- 2 hum pickup (Seymour JB on bridge, 59 on neck)
- Gotoh Wilkinson bridge
- Tobacco burst (the back could be transparent brown if laminate top)
- Contoured heel
- I want a good look
- I want it heavy, around 5 lb

I have diffenrent scenarios :

1 - Black Korina
2 - Mahogany back, swamp ash laminate top
3 - Mahogany back, black korina laminate top
4 - Mahogany back, flame maple laminate top (I'm not a fan of flame maple top but I know that is a must with a mahogany back)

the scenarios with laminate top could have a natural vintage binding

So you can see where I want to go.  Any suggestion ?

Is the choice of the laminate top will have a big influance on the tone ?

Thanks

That is easy.... Tobacco burst looks best on Black Korina, and it's a great tonewood!
so all black korina, chambered is even better!

oh and welcome to the forum!  :icon_thumright:

Thanks for your recommandation

Is black korina is heavier than the mahogany ?

Why is it better chambered ?

Its in the same weight class as mahogany, and while the main impact of making it chambered is weight reduction it is also supposed to make the body more resonant.

Mahogany + Flamed Maple... with the Tobacco Burst it'll look outstanding:

Thank you !!

If no, I can pick what I want if I stay with a Mahogany back.

Is the neck wood as a big influence.  Because I'm looking for a maple neck with an indian rosewood fingerboard.

Thanks to all of you

No, the laminate top on a strat has zero effect on tone.
also, the neck has way more effect on tone than the body wood.
if you want a warm tone, I can recommend an all Rosewood neck with an ebony fingerboard. Rosewood is warm like mahogany, but you have the benefit of a great feeling raw neck, and of course a unique exotic look! you can also save some money on the neck finish

Finally, ignore Nando and go for all korina with a nice tobacco burst!

My vote is at 1 and 4. They are very different looks, one raw, one refined. Check out the Guitar of the Year is you want to see what can be done with BK and tobacco burst.
