Recessed rout for Original Floyd Rose trem with no fine tuners.

Warmoth is not currently offering a recessed no-fine-tuners-Floyd rout, and has no immediate plans to.

A small but vocal group (led by stratamania) has gathered outside our doors with torches and pitchforks....but we have three month's worth of Red Bull and bologna sandwiches in here. We can outlast them.

Edit, in all seriousness: I am gonna bring this up in today's meeting, but even if we decided to add it to our offering today, it would likely be some months before it was ready.

Hmm... torches and pitchforks... that's serious business. And a prolonged Red Bull/bologna sammich diet can be rough on the bowels...

I suggest you let the Wookie win

Torches and Pitchforks. Not sure I would resort to that but purely in the spirit of jest...

Thing is, if he wants a Floyd with no fine tuners, that means he's not gonna use a locking nut.

You sure?  :toothy12: :toothy12: :toothy12:

I can't speak for the kids in the KISS Army, but if the nut's locked and there are no fine tuners at the bridge, I don't know how you'd tune the instrument.

Me neither, I think thats complete insanity... But of course, when Vinnie and Gary Moore did it there was no alternative, from what I know.

That other guy with the red strat however still absolutely SWEARS by that setup....  :o :icon_scratch: ??? :tard:

Prior to the fine tuners, it was a bit of a balancing act tuning. It was important to make sure the retaining bar was at the correct height so that when the nut was locked down the strings tuning did not alter appreciably.

Obviously, the introduction of the fine tuners was a step forward.  And of course, back then we did not have locking tuners. (For really crazy bar usage though a double locking Floyd is still the best bet, especially for live use)

Would be a nice addition to the existing range!

What's the status???

No new news, apart from in another thread it was mentioned that it would be discussed at a W HQ meeting. No idea what the outcome was.

Would be a nice option. A semi locking recessed bridge with a history!!
(If you don't take the tuners in account ☺)
Would look very clean on a carved top guitar. And since there is no option to have a angled neck pocket on these babies, this would be something nice to fill the gap.

Turned out the routing is no big deal.  Most who have used a trim router can do it.  Just a lot of preparation with perimeter guides, double-stick tapes and methodical planning.  Mine turned out pretty good.

I have plead your case. I have stood before the Warmoth high council, and invoked the names of Guthrie Govan and Brad Willis. I stand before you today to deliver the result.
Warmoth has decided to place the power in the hands of the people....AKA, crowdsourcing.

If you can get five people to commit to buying a body with this rout - by paying for it in advance - we will program the rout and offer it as an off-menu option. One person would also have to be willing to lend us their bridge while we do the programming. We would return it with the body, of course.

The cost would be the price of whatever body you choose, plus an extra $45 for the custom bridge rout.

Hmmm This gives me an idea... I wrote a parametric scalloping routine a few years ago, not sure about the neck machine or how many tool stations it has or whats in them. If anyone on the high council is interested.  I imagine this one won't get past the high council, so it really needs the neck station guy to be personally interested.

Hi guys, Just registered today, Count me in for one of these bodies.

There is another thread in the general discussion part of the forum. Please post overthere if you want a non fine tuner recessed floyd.

They need five people willing to invest by the end of the month. Please spread the word!!!
